MIGTY MIDGETS Raising Ruins For The Future (CD)

08/21/2010 | After a pretty long holiday where I totally switched off with all technology shit I find quite awkward sitting before my computer, and to write a review of a shite band would have not definitely been a good way to kick back to my reviewer duties, would it? But, no need to worry, the guys in MIGHTY MIDGTES are indeed really good at playing their blend of melodic hardcore punk that since listen one caught my attention cause it’s packed of solid, well written and sticky tunes that will get you jumping, punching your fists and yelling along them in no time.
Some of their main reference points here count Strike Anywhere, A Wilhelm Scream, This Is A Stand Off, Rent To Kill, Jet Market, Nofx and Sum 41.
Fast, stirring, with lotta technical parts and a flood of addicting melodies and hooks.
Politically and self-conscious lyrics and quotes from famed thinkers and writers (you get them as liner notes) add some spices to their tasty plate and give more than one cue to get your lazy heads to think about what’s going on in today world.
It really seems like that in Europe some melodic hardcore punk is doin’ really good considering the countless bands who strive to keep the flag up.
By the way, MIGHTY MIDGETS hails from Denmark and formed around 2006 and their debut "RAISING RUINS FOR THE FUTURE" (out through five labes) follows up to a EP titled “Plug and Pray” dated 2006, a split with German’s The Cakes out in the same year and a 7” split with Copenhagen fellas Stars Burn Stripes released in 2007.
If you dig the bands I mentioned above I think I don’t need to tell you to check this out, and if you’ve never heard of melodic hardcore well check this out anyway as it’s gonna be a good starting point to introduce you to genre.
