RESISTANCE Lords Of Torment (CD)

06/16/2010 | GSR music, in the recent years, has always boasted a pretty varied catalogue of releases ranging from 90’s influenced hardcore to the latest schools of metal-death-core.
RESISTANCE’s “LORDS OF TORMENT”, third full-length -it follows up with 2008’s “Two Sides Of Modern World” and debut dated 2006 “Trauma”-recording from this Belgian outfit, fits damn well in the latter category (modern brutal death metal with a minor hardcore backbone that takes influences from the likes of Kataklysm, Aborted, All Shall Perish, Job Of A Cowboy, Sepultura to name but a few).
Lyrically, the guys pick up tons of devilish death metal cliché and deliver a rude “fuck all” attitude that I feel like it helps more to keep hardcore kids, who strive for thought provoking topics, away than catch their attention. I’m personally never been a fan of this kind of lyrics which sound a bit childish.
Musically, from the opening “Requiem” to the closing track “I Can’t Stand” what you’ll get here is bold slab of brutal death metal which levels everything on its path and (like a good metal reviewer would say) takes no prisoners.
To sum-up: music 7 to 8 stars, lyrics 2 stars, production 8 stars.
