SVETLANAS + DAY AFTER RULES @ K.O. Rivolta D’Adda Sat.19 Dec.2009.

12/29/2009 | As you may have noticed it’s a while since last time we posted a new show report so, for the very first time since the day I started writing for Trueside music I am gonna review a show I happen to attend both as onlooker and musician having opened with my band Day After Rules. Of course, don’t worry, I’m not gonna say how my band is good and bullocks like this (it wouldn’t be fair hehehe…) but I’ll focus on the show of the main act.
Here goes a few notes about the show then.
Saturday 19 December Lodi's Day After Rules are called to open at K.O. rock’n’roll pub for a 70’s influenced punkrock combo hailing from Milan. SVETLANAS, the female fronted four-some, gets up on stage after the intense, packed of melodic punk, half an hour slot played by Day After Rules and starts out with the barefooted singer Olga (real name Angela –band’s line-up is completed by Pedro on guitar, Dimitri on bass and Jurij a.k.a. Diste ex-Sottopressione/La crisi on drums) introducing the band as “we are Svetlanas from Russia and parlo un poco Italiano” to unleash soon after their blend of raw, stripped down, three chords punkrock that reminded me much of the likes of The Cramps, X-Ray Spex, Germs, The Dickies, Iggy Pop, Ramones and Distillers.
The front girl Angela makes all efforts to catalyze the attention of the kids attending and goes ape and screams her guts out all the whole set. The girl shows a cheeky attitude that many front-men lack of, notably, once she jumps down the stage and yells their vitriol lyrics a few inches off of restrained onlookers faces.
All in all a fast, raw, sweat drenched and intense show played at a volume that caused hears to bleed for the few lucky who come out careless of bone-freezing weather and the snow dropped the day before.
Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me so I could not take any pictures. The picture is taken off band's myspace.
